On a good night, walking into A Baiuca is like gate-crashing a family party. It’s a special place with fado vadio (street fado), where locals take a turn and spectators hiss if anyone dares to chat during the singing. There's a €25 minimum spend, which is as tough to swallow as the food, though the fado is spectacular. Reserve ahead.
The food is basic and unpretentious with dishes like monkfish stew and char grilled grilled fish, however the real draw is the Fado.
Nice place if you want to listen to fado, it still maintains the charme of the ancient fado restaurants. You need to book in advance because it is really small and they will ask you to arrive before fado singers begin their show.

The atmosphere is homely and wonderfully amateurish but absolutely genuine. The singing is from the heart and makes for one of the most authentic dining experiences in the city.
