Located at the very center of the city, this beautiful church dates back to the beginning of 20th century. It is an active church with services held every day (the morning one begins at around 08-08:30am on weekdays and around 09:00am on weekends, the evening one begins at around 16:00 or 17:00 depending on the season). It is visited by numerous locals every day, especially on the Holidays, as well as by many tourists interested in our religion and culture. It is a Holy place, very beautiful and very special. Cannot recommend you enough to visit!

Great catedral, most famous for its golden domes which can be seen even from the top of Vitosha mountain.
Probably the original church was built in the 10th century and, like other Sofia temples at the time, it had stone foundations and a wooden structure on top. In this form the temple lasted until the middle of the XIX century. The attack in the church "Holy Sunday" is the biggest terrorist act in the history of Bulgaria. It was performed on April 16, 1925. The special purpose of the attack is to liquidate the country's military and political elite.
