Retreat in nature in Royal Deeside
An áit go léir · 2 aoi · 1 leaba · 1 seomra folctha

Retreat in nature in Royal DeesideHi, the Creamery is an award-winning wooden single story building on a back lane near the village of Torphins. I converted it a few years ago and it now contains a holiday let suite and my studio. (Please inquire if you are an artist interested in using the studio space as part of your stay). I have loved doing up the interior to offer a natural modern and eclectic space to relax and unwind with the emphasis on natural. Wheelchair accessible, pets are welcome.

  • Historic Aberdeen Guided Running Tour
Outdoor, mobile, and naturally socially-distanced, groups runs are an ideal way to explore in the era of COVID-19! (Current law restricts this to 1 guest). You'll get an instagram-friendly cross-section of Aberdeen, highlighting importance current and historic aspects of Scotland's third largest city. From ancient bridges and universities to cutting edge energy technology, runners will get to explore the city while working up a sweat. Over this 2-hour, 7.25 mile/12km tour, you'll see the oldest sites in the city, natural areas, parks, and the urban core, all while learning from and asking me any questions about the city you can think of. The loop is all paved, though there are road crossings (marked and pedestrian-friendly) and the option for a short park trail. Designed for running, but open to bicycles if you are ok cycling slowly. Dogs and jogging strollers welcome. Listed times don't work for you? My schedule is pretty flexible, so feel free to request a time that is not listed or send me a message requesting an alternate running time! Other things to note The pace can be set faster or slower depending on the group's preference, but no faster than 7:15/mile (4:40 km) and no slower than 15:00/mile (9:00 km). The goal is to run while still enjoying conversation, rather than push ourselves as physically hard as possible. There is one public toilet on route.

  • Glen and Moorland Explorer Ride
I'll take 20 minutes to fit you to a bike, and give you some basic tuition on riding a full suspension mountain bike. During the ride, I'll show you how to use the capability of your bike. We'll work on climbing, descending, cornering and braking. You will gradually build your skills and confidence for the trail ahead. Then we take to the trails. We warm up on easy trails, where we'll practice a stream crossing, before a quick break at the halfway hut. From here we head in to more open country, with a couple of hours more strenuous riding on to open moorland, to be rewarded by a view from the summit. Then its time to put your downhill skills to the test, with 3km of descent. We'll catch our breath at the ruined croft before completing the circuit and returning to Dinnet. Other things to note Please wear sport clothes suitable for 5 hours outside, and extra clothes in a small rucksack for the hill top. Normal running or sports shoes will be perfect. Please bring a drink and snack in a small rucksack to keep you going all the way round. If this location, or timing does not suit you please get in touch, we would love to provide options that suit you.
