Neighborhoods

Nearby Parks, Hikes & Waterfalls: -Bighorn Park is just 1/4 mile to the east of the Vail Racquet Club property and boasts a pond, pavilion and very expansive kids playground area. -There’s an unmarked hiking trail directly across from Bighorn Park (locals call it the Water Tower hike). There is not a trail head or sign so just look for the trail in the field and follow it up! Each time you come to a fork in the trail, stay left. This is a 2.5-mile loop that takes you past 3 waterfalls in the summer (frozen in the winter and you can walk under one of them). In the winter, Yaktrax or snowshoes are recommended for the steep portion of the trail. You’ll come down on a dirt service road, past a big water tower. This is the end of the hike, you can either do this hike as an “out and back” or walk through neighborhood streets back to the park area. -There’s a waterfall directly behind the Racquet Club bus stop. It is a short, but very steep hike straight up. There’s a trail on both side of the waterfall, I recommend going up the left-side because the right-side dead-ends halfway up and you’ll have to backtrack and make you way across the water to get to the other side. This one is best in the summer when the water is flowing!
