Chatham Band Concerts

Free Friday night concerts begin at 8 pm and last approximately an hour-and-a-half. Festive old fashioned fun with the audience often joining in to sing, dance and march around the town bandstand in Kate Gould Park. Early in the day, many concert goers set blankets on the lawn for seating. Parking can be difficult. Early July through the end of August, depending on weather.

Cape Cod Baseball League, Chatham Anglers

Representing all college divisions from around the U.S., players are recruited for “the best amateur summer league in the country” according to college coaches and professional baseball scouts. The 10 Cape teams each have a home field and they travel to games scheduled in the towns of Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Cotuit, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Orleans, Wareham and Yarmouth-Dennis. All games are free. June, July and early August. Schedule available online, in many shops and info centers, also look for in-town signs the day of the game.

Chatham Fourth of July Parade

Each year, approximately 20,000 people line Main street to watch one of the oldest Independence parades in the country featuring floats, music, dance and more. The parade begins at the intersection of Shore Road and Main Street and finishes at the Intersection of Crowell Road and Tip Cart. Thursday 9:30 am, July 4th, 2023. Parking is difficult and we recommend biking or walking from the house.

Emery Pond

Our 14 acre kettle pond is swimmable, our family has enjoyed it for 30 years. We have sometimes noticed algae, and during such times, it is not advisable to swim. The Friends of Chatham Waterways are studying water quality in some of the ponds and are a good source of information.

One-and-a-half hour seal tours onboard a distinctive yellow boat in Pleasant Bay, along the beautiful Chatham Harbor waterways between North Beach, Chatham Light and the break. A chance to see harbor and grey seals in their natural habitat. Reservations required.

Main Street Chatham offers some of the best boutique shopping on all of Cape Cod! Many treasures at the whimsical souvenir shops, artisan galleries, fine jewelry stores and clothiers. Nautical antiques, designer shoes, homemade candy and ice cream, as well as beautiful cottage furniture all just a stroll through town. For summer, most shops are open 10 am to 10 pm.

Cape Cod Rail Trail

Great paths for safe walking and riding. Bikes can be rented at chathamhoodbikes (offers a map of where to ride on Cape) and the wheelhousebike are both nearby. Ask about pick up/drop off service for bikes. The bike path is a block away and you can ride to Chatham or Harwich in the opposite direction.

The Chatham Drama Guild

134 Crowell Road, Chatham One of the oldest operating theatre venues on Cape Cod! Performances include dramas, comedies, musicals, concerts and more; check the website for this year’s show schedule. Reservations are recommended, for advance tickets call the box office. Tickets also online and at the door, one hour before the performance. Cash bar before and during intermission. Air-conditioned, handicap accessible, ample parking.

Tennis Courts

Free, public courts on a first-come, first-serve basis at Monomoy Middle School, 481 Crowell Road. Limited parking. Sometimes the courts are used for lessons in the summer, but it is unusual not to be able to find a time to play. *Pickleball courts require a membership to the Community Center.

The capecodcreativearts organization 'festival' is a three day, outdoor exhibition of fine arts and crafts held in historic Chase Park each August. Features 120 first-class exhibitors, plus local food vendors and draws nearly 10,000 attendees each year. A favorite for tourists and locals.

Barclay's Pond Nature Trail

A 1.9 mile walk through shady woodlands to various ponds, including Schoolhouse. Reasonably well marked. Small parking lot on Old Queen Anne. Look for the brown and white sign featuring a hiker. For other trails in Chatham, checkout the Alltrails app.
