The Santa Fe Depot Room - The Shady Lady Bed & Breakfast

The Santa Fe route went through Gainesville and made our town a bustling hub of commerce. The original depot housed a Harvey House and today its a museum for visitors going from Fort Worth to Oklahoma City. Our citizens rallied together to restore the depot to its former grandeur. Our room honors its legacy with original colors of the Santa Fe line, an antique claw foot tub for a relaxing soak. There is also a decorative fireplace, while lovely, current insurance restrictions prohibit its use.

The town of Saint Jo (8 miles away) features great places to eat, such as the Windmill Grill Saloon, and the Grazing Grill. You will find your accommodations to be immaculate and extremely comfortable. Also included with your stay; a light continental style breakfast/beverages pre-supplied in room.

A common area and kitchenette joins the two downstairs bedrooms and upstairs bedroom together. Each bedroom is large, and spacious, and plays on iconic Texas cities such as Lubbock, Hereford, and Muleshoe.

This was Sarah’s room, the original Madam in the 1880’s when the building housed the Grand Central Saloon and brothel. Guests enjoy its luxurious setting with rich fabrics, sitting room and a jacuzzi tub. There is also a decorative fireplace, although lovely, current insurance restrictions prohibit its use.

Gainesville is known for its abundance of beautiful historic homes and lovely gardens, many restored to their original splendor. This room celebrates that past with light and airy colors and décor reminiscent of a garden in bloom. The bathroom features an antique claw foot tub and shower.
