We're sorry but in consideration to our non-smoking guests and ourselves, only non-smokers, non-vaping folks please. It's our pleasure to share our 1922 craftsman style home with you while you enjoy your visit to the beautiful Monterey Peninsula! Your private bedroom and bath are cozy and comfortable. The aquarium, Cannery Row, and beautiful Pacific Grove are within walking distance.
Please be prepared to provide identification upon your arrival.

An spás
We'd love to have you stay in the guest bedroom of our craftsman style home! Ours is a three bedroom house in a quiet neighborhood. The main guest bedroom is private, quiet, comfortable, clean, and cute. You'll find a new queen sized bed, a desk, and dresser, and a closet available for your use. This room is designed for 1 or 2 guests and can accommodate a small child as well. If the guests wish to have separate rooms our second guest room is available for the nominal fee of $15 to cover the extra cleaning. We enjoy kayaking, are avid hikers, and have several books and suggestions for local outdoor adventures available for you to peruse. We also have put together a binder of information on local activities for you as well. City of Pacific Grove Transient Use License #0220.

You'll have exclusive use of the private guest bathroom with a shower/tub combination and nice towels. We provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for your use.

We offer a continental breakfast each morning with coffee, hot chocolate, and/or tea, homemade muffins, cereal, fresh fruit, juice, milk and yogurt. We have a cappuccino machine so we can make fresh coffee drinks for your enjoyment.

You are welcome to put things in our refrigerator and use the microwave (no seafood, though). Sorry, we do not allow our guests to cook in our home. Because the kitchen is in our living space, it is closed to guests at 9:00 pm.

For groups of three or four, we have a second bedroom with a comfortable queen sized bed, side tables with lamps, and a small desk. This room does not have its own closet but is the same size as the main guest room and right down the hall from it. Please note that we will never rent out that second bedroom to a second party. We only host one party at a time. You, our guest, will be our only guests during your stay.

While our house is appropriate for families with older children, it is not child-proofed and therefore is not necessarily appropriate for toddlers or small children. Our experience has shown that our listing is not appropriate for families with more than one child under the age of five. If you have questions relating to staying here with children, please feel free to send us an inquiry and we will be happy to discuss it with you.

Rochtain d'aíonna
Our house is divided by the kitchen. The front of the house contains the guest rooms and bathroom as well as a large living room and eating area. Here you'll find comfortable couches and cable TV available for your use. You'll have access to all of this space in the front of the house. We do most of our living in the kitchen and back part of the house in our own private area, but we enter and exit the house through the main door like you. We're easy to find if you need us for anything. For privacy, we pull a curtain between the front and back of the house from dinner time til breakfast time the next morning, but it's easy for guests to access us with questions or needs by simply coming back into the kitchen.

Check in time is 3:00. For the most part, whenever you arrive is good with us. However, guests must arrive before 10 p.m. unless you have made prior arrangements. If we happen to be out, guests can come in by using our lock box. You also have free wi-fi access during your stay.

Pacific Grove charges a 12% transient occupancy tax. Airbnb will be collecting and remitting the transient occupancy tax for all reservations booked after December 1, 2017. Guests will see a separate line item for the tax when booking. Airbnb will collect and pay the tax to the City of Pacific Grove at the next filing due date. City of Pacific Grove Transient Use License #0220.
To comply with our local short-term rental ordinance, we must ask all guests for their home address and maintain a log including this information. We don't send this information anywhere; we're just required to record it.

Since our living space is adjacent to the kitchen, we ask that our guests limit their use of the kitchen to using the fridge and other simple tasks. Guests using the kitchen to cook meals is disruptive to our evening quiet routine and is not allowed. Sorry for any inconvenience. The kitchen is closed to guests at 9:00 pm.

We're happy to serve you breakfast! As a rule of thumb, we say "anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. unless you let us know otherwise." We can work out a breakfast plan if you want to eat earlier or later; you'll just need to let us know. And of course, out of consideration, please let us know if you don't plan on eating breakfast so we can plan on that as well.

The entire Monterey Peninsula is very short on water. As such, we ask that our guests try to take short showers and limit their water usage as much as possible. If you stay multiple days with us, at your request we will wash your towels and sheets every third day.conserve water unless you have an issue that requires more frequent washing...just let us know.

In determining whether or not to host folks in our home, we depend on past reviews, whether they seem to have similar interests, and/or whether guests seem okay with our House Rules and with what we have to offer. We would never discriminate against any guest based on ethnicity, sexual orientation, or anything else!

Pacific Grove, California, Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá

Pacific Grove is a wonderful community! A quiet town of about 15,000 adjacent to Monterey, PG (as the locals call it) began as a Methodist retreat in the late 1800's. As such, it's said that PG has the largest concentration of Victorian style homes of any community in the US. Don't know how accurate that is, but suffice it to say, it's a cute, tidy little town with stunning scenery. Pacific Grove is often called "The Last Hometown," and you'll find lots of local events here such as the weekly farmer's market and annual celebrations like the Butterfly Parade, Good Old Days, and the Feast of Lanterns. There are many kid-friendly things to see and do both in Pacific Grove and in neighboring Monterey. People live here because they really want to, and the vibe here is friendly and upbeat. You can easily walk to the aquarium and Cannery Row where you can pick up the free trolley ( it runs between Memorial Day and Labor Day) that will take you all over Monterey. You can walk to downtown PG and the coastal Rec Trail (beautiful!). If you're up for a bit longer walk (or a bike ride or a short drive), you can get to Asilomar State Park with a nice beach and lots of Julia Morgan architecture. From here, Carmel, Point Lobos State Park, and Big Sur are beautiful destinations and beautiful drives. In the other direction, the National Steinbeck Center in Salinas is 20 miles away.

We have lived here on the Monterey Peninsula for thirty years. We raised our four grown children here. Both of us grew up in the Bay Area. David is retired, and Kelly is a science teacher. We are very involved in our community as volunteers for the Big Sur International Marathon, the City of Pacific Grove, and the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. We're avid hikers and we love to kayak. We own a little camper and typically travel a lot each summer, camping in and around national and state parks as we explore our public lands. We've also traveled to several major US cities and have made one memorable trip to Europe, where we traveled with nothing more than a small backpack for three weeks. We're both very interested in nature, science, and the environment. We're excited to meet people from all over the world and to share this beautiful place where we live with visitors. We hope you will choose to stay with us so you can feast on Kelly's homemade muffins and have David make you a coffee drink of your choosing on our professional grade Jura Impressa S9 Espresso machine.

We are friendly people. David is retired, and Kelly works as a public school science teacher during the day. We're definitely around to help you with whatever questions you might have. We're both volunteer nature docents with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, board members with the Big Sur International Marathon, avid outdoor people, and longtime residents of this area, so we can help you information you might want about the area. Since we live in this house, we'll be easy to find if you need us, but as we have our own private space in the back of the house so we won't be tripping over each other!
