Steel Green, An Ríocht Aontaithe

Welcome to The Willows at Port Haverigg Marina Village... the Lake District’s best kept secret!

Port Haverigg is a real hidden gem, a beautiful unique holiday park, located in an area of outstanding natural beauty with views of the Lakeland Fells, Irish Sea and Duddon Estuary which is immortalized in Wordsworth’s poetry.

This stunning park is in a beautiful location just outside Millom, on the Cumbrian coastline, in the Western Lakes. The perfect location for you to enjoy a holiday in Cumbria, ideally situated for exploring the magnificent Lake District without all the hustle & bustle that can often arise in the heart of The Lakes and it is yet only a 30-minute drive from Coniston.

With a 3-mile golden sandy beach perfect for families and dog lovers alike, Port Haverigg also boasts a 200-acre fresh water private lake which is ideal for fishing and not only stunning but it is the only lake in the Lake District with NO speed restrictions, meaning it is a water sports enthusiast ‘dream come true’.

For the climbers and walkers there is the mighty Scafell and the not so daunting Coniston Old Man, the Langdales and Tarn Hows and all the various routes up the Black Coombe Mountain.

Golfers can delight in a 9-hole / 18 tee links course at Silecroft Golf Club. Furness Golf Club is on the Island of Walney and is the sixth oldest course in England, a traditional links course with 18-holes. The Dunnerholme Golf Club Dunnerholme golf club is a challenging 10-hole links course, with 18 tees, whilst the popular, nearby Ulverston club boasts an 18-hole course.

For horse riding, Murthwaite Green, only 4 miles away specialise in beach rides and cater for all abilities and ages from 4 years upwards. Cumbria Heavy Horses are situated 6 miles away and are unique in the use of the magnificent Clydesdale, Shire and Ardennes horses for riding on the beach and up the fells.

The Lake District has many wonderful houses and castles to visit among them are Holker Hall; an Elizabethan House with a stunning garden, Muncaster Castle with its own owl sanctuary, Levens Hall and its garden in its original 1694 design and stately topiary, Sizergh Castle and its fern and limestone garden. Beatrix Potter’s house at Hill Top and Dove Cottage in Grasmere which is home of the poet William Wordsworth.

Situated by the Hodbarrow Lagoon & RSPB Nature reserve, this beautiful location is perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers alike. With its abundant wildlife and surrounding scrub and grassland it is home to songbirds, rare plants and natterjack toads and marsh and bee orchids add colour to the flower-rich grasslands. The 4-mile circular walk around the lake is dog friendly and pushchair-friendly and ideal for runners and cyclists alike.

For rail enthusiasts, Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway provides 7-miles of spectacular scenery, travel across the estuary, through the hills on a 15 in minimum gauge heritage railway, the line runs from Ravenglass (the only coastal village in the UNESCO World Heritage site) to Dalegarth Station near Boot in the valley of Eskdale. Travel back in time on the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway, jump aboard train at Haverthwaite Station and enjoy views from your carriage up to Lakeside; the southern tip of Lake Windermere. The Cumbrian Coast Line from Carlisle to Barrow passes through some pretty spectacular scenery. Travel south along the coast to destinations such as Carnforth 'Brief Encounters' railway station and Lancaster.

For foodies, there are an endless supply of places to eat and drink. The on-site Ski bar offers a wide range or refreshments along with hot & cold snacks. Herdwicks bistro is a mere 150 yards from us and is also a coffee house a pizzeria. From a traditional chippy in Haverigg, to quaint 15th century pubs in nearby Broughton-in-Furness, to micro-breweries in Foxfield to Michelin starred restaurants such as L’enclume in Cartmel.

With fantastic walks, water sports, outdoor adventures, coastline and nearby beauty spots there is something for everyone. The Willows at Port Haverigg can offer the adventure you are looking for or equally be the quiet, relaxing retreat you desire.
